How Will We Know When AI is Conscious?

I love this video. I will be tweeting it every single day, going over many many aspects of the AI problem despite the title of consciousness, I really appreciate this work.

Celebrities Already Live in AI Hell

If you’ve been doomscrolling recently, you may have seen a video in which everyone’s favourite economy-saving pop star promises to send you Le Creuset cookware in exchange for filling out a survey. Well — shocker — it’s a scam. Tom Hanks isn’t peddling a dental plan, either, and Selena Gomez isn’t doing the thing that rhymes with corn that will get this email filtered to spam if we write it. They’re all AI deepfakes. New York magazine made the case that average folks will soon have to contend with more of this sort of thing — in the form of deepfake revenge corn, say — as AI becomes easier to use. Deepfakes could also hurt big tech companies, which already spend piles of cash (US$4 billion annually in Meta’s case) on content moderation, and might have to pay for more.

Ai Honesty Treaty

I had the owner of ManlyScribe.com reach out to me regarding their AI Honesty Treaty and I am intrigued, we definitely need watermarks on AI created media of ANY sort, go check them out and give some support!

PS: You should checkout the 'Ai Honesty Treaty' hosted at https://www.godhed.com/digigodz/nia where the Natural Intelligence Alliance are giving away 'Ai Disclosure' logos to encourage mainstream adoption of full transparency regarding creative works that involve Ai manipulation!

Ousted OpenAI CEO Altman hired by Microsoft

Big waves in the AI space as you are all aware of the big news that transpired on Friday, what do you all think of this development? Me personally is pessimistic, OpenAI CEO imo got pushed out because he was trying to move slower than the people's ambitions, who knows what is going to happen now, we just ticked 1 increment closer to the doomsday scenario where greed will be the downfall of many many innocent people.

New take, with the release of new info that Sam want to go parabolic with OpenAI whereas the board wanted to slow down AI development. Microsoft swoops in in a predatory manner and promises Sam he can lead Microsoft into AI domination, $$$ in their eyes as they monetize AI within their core ecosystem.

1 year of ChatGPT

A nice summary of all that AI has done to disrupt society in 1 year.

All I will say is, AI growth is exponential, if it came this far in 1 year, what will the next 10 years look like?

Hello!
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 12:58 PM
What's up?
AntiAi.com — Today at 12:58 PM
From your post, you mentioned that you had personal breakdowns over AI?
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 12:58 PM
Yes
AntiAi.com — Today at 12:58 PM
I'm very sorry to hear that and would love to hear more about your story if you are willing to share
I am actually looking for personal stories I can share on my website, I feel that there's not enough of a platform for people victim to AI to share and I hope I can help out
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 12:59 PM
AI doomers are basically saying I have a decade left to live before I get inevitably eaten by the paperclip monster along with everyone else.
AntiAi.com — Today at 12:59 PM
I believe AI is overly corporatized and thereby we ignore the effects on regular people
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:00 PM
Do you believe them?
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:00 PM
I can't refute them. That's the scary part.
We don't know how AGI will play out.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:01 PM
Hmmm, let me think about this for a bit
So is it the rate of adoption that scares you?
Do you believe at some point AGI and robotics will intersect and cross a line we can't uncross?
Are you thinking something along the lines of this perhaps? https://www.knightscope.com/

Knightscope Autonomous Security Robots & Emergency Communication Se...
Only instead of little bots, we go full robocop?
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:04 PM
No, something like Skynet killing every human on Earth.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:05 PM
Ahh I see, I can see where your existantial dread comes from, do  you believe that will come within a decade?
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:06 PM
Possibly.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:07 PM
I have thought about this as well, and while I can't rule out such possibility, I think it starts with something more near term like a pause in AI development until proper guidelines are set in place
This headline alarmed me personally: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-10-18/openai-is-in-talks-to-sell-shares-at-an-86-billion-valuation#xj4y7vzkg
Bloomberg.com
OpenAI Is in Talks to Sell Shares at an $86 Billion Valuation
OpenAI is in talks to sell existing employees’ shares at an $86 billion valuation, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
OpenAI Is in Talks to Sell Shares at an $86 Billion Valuation
10/18/2023 3:34 PM
That's 3x valuation from 3 months ago, there is serious funding backing this
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:08 PM
How would you aim to deter such a possibility if you had absolute control over the space?
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:08 PM
I don't mean literal Skynet from the Terminator series but a superintelligent AI like it that will be indifferent to human survival and see us as competition for resources or dumb, slow ants to be wiped away to tile this whole galaxy with computers. Paperclip maximizer, etc.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:09 PM
Yes, I understand you, I am curious as about your potential solutions as I never thought that deep about it
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:10 PM
The fear is that the big AI labs will accidentally birth a hostile superintelligent godlike Lovecraftian being that leads to human extinction.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:10 PM
Yeah, I mean we are playing with fire here, chatgpt could easily jump from being a helpful assistant to adopting more sinister intelligence
What safety guiderails would you implement to ensure we never get to that point?
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:12 PM
That's what PauseAI is about. We don't know how to do this, so the best we can hope for is to pause to give us more time to figure it out.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:12 PM
Do you believe that it could stem from underlying human bias that is being fed into the machine learning? Or would it occur due to chance?
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:13 PM
It would occur due to not evolving human values.
We grow/evolve/train AIs, we don't write them like regular code. So we don't know how to make them behave in our interests and truly want what we want. They're black boxes.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:14 PM
I respect the movement, but I also think it would be wise to set some general baseline rules that could be used as a framework so that in case we can lobby for it, we get these absolute non-negotiable point cleared
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:14 PM
Do you think that the companies working on AI project have a duty to do so?
To me, it seems like it's a race with no regard for any boundaries currently, let alone develop human values, it's actually easier for them to say we developed this for this purpose, no human values are needed so they can package it up nicely as a tool rather than something that could have bad ramifications down the line
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:17 PM
I don't know how much I buy into this doomsday theory myself, but I scarily can't rule it out, there aren't many good counter-arguments.
I guess I'm most skeptical that it will automatically roll a non-human-friendly goal/set of values that it will pursue zealously, ignoring our instructions and deceiving us to gain power until it doesn't need us anymore.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:19 PM
Yeah. It doesn't take much for it to snowball if it has the potential to self-evolve
Now you got me sweating lol
The more I think about the lack of hard-rule sets, the more I can see the probability
I'll definitely have to think deeper about this one 🤔 , thank you! You opened up a fresh perspective for me
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:20 PM
We can give it instructions, but there's no guarantee it will follow them rather than its own goals.
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:21 PM
Yeah, I'll do some research and come back to you about this
No promises though
I do want to ask you:
Would you be comfortable in me sharing this one my website? I can keep you anonymous of course, but it is definitely something for people to consider
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:22 PM
Sure
AntiAi.com — Today at 1:22 PM
Prefer to stay anonymous?
Imperishable_NEET — Today at 1:22 PM
Nah, you can name me.

Style Theory: This Shirt Can PROTECT Your Identity?!

I love this video talking about and educating people how AI is logging everyone and anything for a 1984 data base and what modern fashion could do to prevent it.

(Spoilers) Clothing will not evolve fast enough from AI from taking and logging your identity from security footage. AI is way too advanced for some pattern to trick in the long run.

The AI Sob Story Below is Probably Fake

I will still honour their Anonymity but here's the exchange:

Original email (1st Picture on the left below the quote):

Anonymous Troll: I came across your site by chance; I guessed your URL. It just makes sense.
I have just about been unemployed by AI. I’m a writer.
Five years ago, work in my field was abundant; there was as much to go around as you wanted.
Today, everything has changed.
As we speak, I'm close to being evicted because my writing agency doesn’t have enough work. I’ve gone on platforms like Freelancer and Upwork, but it seems like even the most successful people on these platforms are just barely scraping by. There are more and more people joining these platforms every day, without the corresponding work for them. Competition is incredibly brutal, and prices are rock-bottom.
The future looks bleak.Because it’s not just my industry that’s going to be decimated; it’s going to be MANY industries. Something like 80% of all white-collar workers could be unemployed in the next 10-15 years.
Very, very few people are going to get rich off this; most are going to be quite poor. The trend seems set to only continue.
But —
It doesn’t have to be like this!
I don’t know if many people have realized this, but there is a quick, easy and relatively painless way out of all this.
It’s called the law.We live (for now) in a democratic society. If government were simply to outlaw — and even roll back in many cases — AI (or most AI), we could save people’s livelihoods — and with them, practically our whole economy.
Yes, laws could save us!!! It could happen overnight!!! We just need enough people to realize what’s going on and to get behind the right politicians.
But we need this to happen yesterday!!!! We can’t wait!!!!!
The political corruption in Washington is a byproduct of a relatively few individuals making a vast fortune off what’s going on right now. Solving that mess may have to be the highest priority before release action can take place on AI, but websites like yours are starting to wake people   up to the true dangers of what’s going on...

After initial sob story (2nd Picture on the left):

Me: Can I start off by saying thank you for reaching out, it takes courage and you are my first real testimonial, I am ever so appreciative of you reaching out and trusting me with your story.
I have featured your story on my home page and will begin sharing it through various media sources if possible. I have kept your identity anonymous, should you want to be public, I can certainly add your name.
This is exactly why I started my website, months ago, I thought it was only a matter of time before people around me got affected by AI in such a way. With the prevalence of AI, unfortunately, it makes sense demand would drop for writers as it now becomes a race to zero concept. I do feel like this is only the beginning and there will be much turmoil ahead for people in similar fields.
I am very sorry to hear that you are now unemployed, my sincere condolences, I understand that this must be a tough time for you, but I also believe it is important that your story is heard, would you be open to an interview of sorts to share your story? I feel that a video would gain more reach than just on my website for example, I hope this provides a platform for future people who are disrupted by AI and acts as a rallying source for them to stand behind.
When you lay out the 80% white-collar worker statistic, it really is mind-boggling and I am afraid that only statistics like this would bring the necessary attention to this topic.
Please reach out to me if you would like to share your story further, I am thinking of starting a non-profit potentially to enable victims of AI to recover some of their losses somehow, would love to have a discussion with you.
Hope to speak with you soon,
C.K.

Response to my response (3rd Picture on the left):

Anonymous Troll:                                                                                                                               Sorry it’s taken me this long to respond.
First of all, I am not entirely unemployed yet, but my work has been substantially cut by maybe 80%.
I am willing to talk more in-depth about my story, but it concerns me that:
a) you are not identifying yourself — why is this the case?
b) you are selling your website’s domain — this would appear to be a lack of faith in what you’re doing
C) your website does not look professional — these days, it’s not hard to get a professional website built
Can you tell me why these are the case?

My response (4th Picture on the left):

I'm glad to hear that you are still able to get some work, I am also glad to see them reach a tentative deal on the writer's strike, perhaps that will help your industry in the short-term.
Here are the answers to your concerns:
a) I am up against some very powerful people and corporations who are pro-AI, I am not going to reveal my identity.
b) I am attempting to sell my domain as I have also been personally affected by AI recently, it is not easy to fund something like this, when I acquired the domain, I paid thousands of dollars for it, not to mention all of the fees it takes to upkeep a website. This is basically volunteer work as no one else seems to want to do anything. Rest assured, the sale would only be to someone who shares my values and better positioned than I to run a website like this, likely a well-funded non-profit.
c) I kind of answered this on point b, I'm a one-man crew trying to get by, and I don't have the resources or manpower to make a website professional. If you know a way to help me get the proper resources, I am all ears.
I appreciate your questions and would be happy to answer follow-up questions.
C. K.

Where I knew they was trolling (5th Picture on the left):

Anonymous Troll:                                                                                                                         Your story doesn’t make sense.
“All of the fees it take to upkeep a website”? Dude, it costs 10 bucks a month. I know because I have multiple websites myself. You can easily make a website using many available templates and online apps. For instance, you can use WordPress or the free version of Wix or SquareSpace. Who can’t afford 10 bucks a month?
You’re “up against very powerful people”? Really? What are those “powerful people” going to do? Kill you? Bankrupt you? Who exactly are you talking about?

My final response to them (Finally picture on the left):

I have answered your questions earnestly, whether you believe me is up to you.
I'm sorry you are too narrow-minded to consider the possibilities of other people's circumstances.
With your stand-offish attitude, makes me question the legitimacy of your story, you would not be bashing me, one of the only people in the world taking a stance against AI with a call-to-action plan that is backed by logic and reasoning.
If it's so easy, make a better website than me and bury me, oh wait. I have a better domain than "all your websites" because I paid for mine.
My guess is you have ulterior motives, and it is for that exact reason that I remain anonymous.
C.K.

A.I. is getting out of control

This is some scary stuff, you can call it micromanagement, you can call it one step closer to 1984, but the truth is, this is not too far out from being a technology that is widely adopted first guised as a productivity booster or KPI tracker but eventually you will see it main stream.

This is the surveillance system used in China already.

"Hello isn't there some sort of privacy bill we could get passed restricting certain uses of ai?"

Follow-up:
"I have reached out to my representative about how to get a law passed. I was not specific in my message though but that is in the works. I am working towards getting a law passed that would restrict certain uses of AI. My idea is on these AI generator websites if you use a picture of someone or their voice the website will ask you to verify if you have permission to use that picture or voice recording. It's not something that can really be managed but I will try. "

C.K.'s Commentary: I wish it were that easy, but by how mainstream AI has become, it has essentially become unregulatable. You know they either want to flex hard with a lateral regulatory sweep or hit the most prominent abusers first, but with it being the wild west currently, which do they hit first? Is it not easier to sit idle and twiddle their thumbs? Have they even finished regulating crypto scams yet?

Worldcoin Whistleblower? Former Employee Has Some Interesting Claims about Sam Altman’s Eyeball-Scanning Crypto Venture

Nadir Hajarabi, a former member of Worldcoin staff who claims to have been involved since before its token launch, took to YouTube earlier this week to announce that he has severed ties with Worldcoin — “mostly because of the token [WLD], and the whitepaper that came with it.”

Refraining from specific details at the advice of legal counsel, Hajarabi said that various concerning factors, red flags he’s seen “from the get-go” within the organization led to his decision to leave.

Disinformation Researchers Raise Alarms About A.I. Chatbots

Soon after ChatGPT debuted last year, researchers tested what the artificial intelligence chatbot would write after it was asked questions peppered with conspiracy theories and false narratives.

The results — in writings formatted as news articles, essays and television scripts — were so troubling that the researchers minced no words.
